Fifty years ago, a group of local community members envisioned a facility where elderly residents of their beloved New Glarus, could seek care and flourish throughout their last years. With the assistance of the Church, blessed by our Lord and through the generosity of their community this dream became a reality. On January 6th, 1966, New Glarus Home opened its doors and began serving with Rev. Paul Schnake as Administrator. The United Church of Christ has served and continues to serve as the foundation of our mission and drives the care we provide and all we do. "...But with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26.

To date, a number of expansions have enhanced the services provided to our Community. In 1972, the original footprint of the nursing home was expanded. In 1983, an addition of a 22 unit independent living apartment complex was added. This began the offering of independent apartment living within our community, but in 1990 began the addition of 26 independent living chalet-style duplexes. In 2010, an Assisted Living facility called Glarner Lodge was added to complete the Continuing Care Retirement Campus model. Recently, New Glarus Home broke ground on a project ... Recently, New Glarus Home broke ground on a project to add the ability to expand our service line again, and to meet the growing demand for private rooms, short term rehabilitation, and expanded therapy services.

New Glarus Home has partnered with St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe, WI to manage a 31 unit independent living apartment complex called St. John's Garden Apartments. In 2000, New Glarus Home, The Monroe Clinic and St. John's United Church of Christ entered into a partnership to provide Assisted Living services to the residents of Monroe, WI, this facility is called St. Clare Friedensheim or "a peaceful home".

In 2021, recognizing the desire to safely age in the comfort of your own home longer, we launched TheHomecare - a supportive in-home personal care service. This service provides care for people within 30 minutes of New Glarus and fills a need that was previously unmet in our region. Show All
