Nonprofit since 1971, Glencroft grew from a $500 gift left to a pastor's wife in the early 1960s and now houses as many as 900 older adults.

Glencroft's meal plan is served at several dining locations on campus, not one dining room. Henry's Restaurant & Grill does made-to-order dishes and marks its ZoeLife-approved plates with nutritional information, which helps if you're watching sodium or sugar. Fast Forward! covers sandwiches, wraps, salads and pizzas, and the Copper Club pours coffee, boba tea, and beer and wine. Menus change daily and entrees swap for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, low sodium or sugar-free versions, so a dietary restriction doesn't shrink you to one safe dish. Reviewers name Henry's in particular, for the food and for the patience of its staff.

Amenities at Glencroft

The pool is indoors and heated, so water aerobics runs year-round, and a mini-market sits on campus. The activity calendar is specific: Senior Balance Classes, a Parkinson's Group, chair exercises and the ZoeLife Drum Class, plus quilting, wood carving, watercolor, and Mah-Jongg and Texas Hold 'Em clubs. Whole weeks get a theme, including Winterfest, Gold Rush Days and Castaway Cove. Guest rooms let visiting family stay steps away rather than commuting, though they're for visitors, not for a resident's short-term stay.
