All of Glencroft is one connected campus in Glendale, AZ, with independent living, assisted living and memory care on the same grounds. Moving up a care level means crossing the campus instead of changing your address, so you keep the same dining room and the same neighbors.

Glencroft has been a nonprofit since 1971. It grew from a $500 gift left to a pastor's wife in the early 1960s, and it now houses as many as 900 older adults. The Towers has housing supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Four Kinds of Homes at Glencroft

Assisted Living at Glencroft's Friendship Villas

Assisted living has its own building on the campus, Friendship Villas, with one-bedroom, one-bath and two-bedroom, one-bath plans. It's for people who still get around on their own and want to hand off cooking, laundry and housekeeping. The fee adds medication management and 24-hour caregiver help. It also adds help with bathing, dressing and grooming, an emergency response pendant, Wi-Fi and upgraded cable, all utilities except phone, and three meals a day and two snacks. Memory care is on the same campus.

Places to Eat at Glencroft

The meal plan works at several places to eat on campus, not just one dining room. Henry's Restaurant & Grill makes dishes to order and marks its ZoeLife-approved plates with nutrition facts, which helps if you're watching salt or sugar. Fast Forward! has sandwiches, wraps, salads and pizzas. The Copper Club pours coffee, boba tea, and beer and wine. Menus change daily. Entrees come in vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, low sodium or sugar-free versions, so a special diet doesn't leave you one safe dish. Pool, Classes and Clubs at Glencroft

The pool is indoors and heated, so water aerobics runs all year, and there's a mini-market on campus. The calendar has Senior Balance Classes, a Parkinson's Group, chair exercises and the ZoeLife Drum Class. There's quilting, wood carving and watercolor, plus Mah-Jongg and Texas Hold 'Em clubs. Whole weeks have a theme, like Winterfest, Gold Rush Days and Castaway Cove. Guest rooms let visiting family stay close by. They're for visitors, not for a resident's short-term stay.
