Westwing opened its doors in 1972 as a care community for older adults. Its location on the west side of DeWitt Community Hospital made it the first community of its kind in the area. An addition designed to serve an additional 25 residents opened in 1990, enhancing not only capacity, but employment opportunities for nurses, CNAs, aides, and other service-oriented team members. Community organizations have often named Westwing an employer of choice for the DeWitt area. Rehabilitation services offered at Westwing include physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
