Cornerstone of Weymouth, a luxury 147-unit independent living retirement community located at 1197 Washington Street, is now open. The three-story, 155,000-square-foot community was developed and built by Elksy Development, LLC and is operated by Boston-area management company Sona Senior Living.
Cornerstone of Weymouth is a rental-only senior living community carefully developed to match the interests of South Shore residents. The community features three in-house dining venues, ranging from a full-service coffee bar to a vibrant pub with a full liquor license and a fine dining restaurant. The culinary team is led by South Shore local Samantha Toomey, formerly the head chef at Burton’s Grill in Hingham.
The community was designed by architectural and interior design firm Meyer Design of Ardmore, PA. Meyer is known for creating engaging spaces that promote independence, active experiences and wellness for older adults. An emphasis on the community design was respecting the New England culture but adding modern touches residents would appreciate. Also, the designers sought to connect the interior design and architecture with the outside elements, which include a pocket park at the entrance and courtyard in the center of the property where residents can participate in several activities.
Campus amenities include concierge services, weekly housekeeping, an extensive fitness center, pickleball court, bocce ball and shuffleboard courts, a library, full-service salon, state-of-the-art theater, game room, 24/7 security, onsite parking, courtyard, and a multi-purpose community center for presentations and performances. The community is also pet friendly.
Cornerstone of Weymouth offers more than 50 unique floor plans with five main configurations, including two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio options. The apartments include in-unit washers and dryers, kitchens and private bathrooms, stainless-steel appliances, in-unit storage, private patios or balconies, and generous amounts of natural light. Monthly rental rates include a $500 credit for the community’s dining venues, weekly housekeeping, water, electricity, cooling and heating.
The community will be overseen by Executive Director Jean Norte, a lifelong resident of the South Shore area who has more than 25 years of experience in all facets of senior living. Jean has been singled out for her leadership with previous employers, and she has tapped into her knowledge of the senior living industry and region to assemble an experienced and compassionate team.
Cornerstone of Weymouth has partnered with respected and local home care organizations to connect their independent living residents who may have health concerns with trusted providers. In addition, there is a primary care physician group that residents can access directly through Cornerstone.
