Our stunning 120-acre campus is home to over 200 residents and is located only 2.5 miles off I-96 in Okemos, Michigan. Residents of Dobie Road enjoy beautiful gardens that surround a handicap accessible wellness trail, a working greenhouse, several enclosed courtyards, an indoor atrium that includes an aviary and fish pond and use of Dobie’s exclusive 20×30 warm water therapy pool. Ingham County Medical Care Facility, “Dobie Road” was founded in 1844 as the original Ingham County Poor Farm which was located on the corner of Okemos and Holt roads. The county moved the “poor farm” to Dobie Road in Okemos around the 1880’s where it continued to operate as an actual working farm with animals, barns, and crops – all of which helped to support residents of the county who needed assistance. Unfortunately, following a fire in the 1920’s, that building needed to be replaced and a new structure was built that was able to house 100 county residents; that building still stands today and is now known as the Carriage Lane apartments building. After being renamed several times, the now Ingham County Medical Care Facility moved from that building into our current location in 1978. We currently serve 236 patients and residents (188 long-term care and 48 short-term rehab) and are very proud of our history of caring for Ingham County’s greatest generations.
