Deaconess-Perry Center is a five-story apartment community specifically designed for older adults who are at least 62 years of age. There are 63 one-bedroom units and a unit for a live-in custodian. Four of the units are handicap accessible designed to benefit the mobility impaired and the building is equipped for those who are hearing and/or visually impaired. The community is located in the Cleveland suburb of North Royalton about a 30 minute drive south from Downtown Cleveland. The community is in close proximity to a post office, pharmacies, grocery store, restaurants, retail business, churches, medical and dental offices, and public transportation. A full range of services are available to participants at little or no cost including various recreational activities (bingo, card parties, crafts, games, exercise, line dancing, computer classes, special trips), transportation to medical appointments and shopping, Post Office-On-Wheels, nurse consultations, health screenings, educational seminars, and annual flu vaccination and Health Expo program. The Office on Aging also provides a wide array of social services to assist participants deal with various personal issues such as Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement, Social Security and SSI assistance, medical or prescription issues, nutrition, intervention, advocacy, and family involvement. After hours, Deaconess-Perry Center residents can use the Center at their leisure to play games, build puzzles, watch TV or socialize with friends or neighbors. Deaconess-Perry Center is a subsidized housing community for seniors age 62 & over. The term “subsidized housing” means that the rent is based on income. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.
